I would like to extend a warm welcome to the Foundation Stage where our youngest girls and boys begin their journey through our School. My name is Julie Corrigan and I am the Reception Class teacher and Foundation Stage Coordinator. At Wykeham House School, the Nursery and Reception classes make up the Foundation Stage.
The Foundation Stage is for children from the age of three to five years old. Myself, together with a small team of qualified and experienced staff, aim to provide a happy and caring learning environment of the highest quality for pupils in their earliest years of education.
Planned activities enable competence, confidence and creativity working towards and beyond the Early Learning Goals. In addition, the children start learning French and Music with specialist teachers. Outings and visits to local places of interest are an important and regular feature of our School year. This together with our stimulating and welcoming classrooms, an outdoor play area appropriate to young children's development and an allotment area, provide an excellent and exciting start to the children's education.
In preparation for the children's future learning and successes, we are able to use the School's excellent facilities such as the ICT suite, Sports Hall and Bath Lane playing field. Participation in whole School and charitable events is encouraged which smooth the transition from our Foundation Stage to the Junior Classes in both the Wykeham House Girls' and Boys' Schools.
For a wonderful start to your child's education, please contact the School office to arrange a time to visit the School. I very much look forward to meeting you.
Mrs Julie Corrigan
